This highpoint attempt was a failure due to bad planning. Reaching the summit of Kings Peak is a two-day hike, camping below the summit then reaching the summit in the morning of the 2nd day. I didn't have the right kind of pack to carry a tent and sleeping bag. I attempted to simply tie them onto my daypack. The weight distribution was poor and my daypack rubbed my skin raw on my lower back. I figure that I hiked probably 6 miles in towards the summit.

While hiking in, I did meet a couple who were hiking out. This was his 50th state highpoint and her 49th.
