Romania is a country rich in history going back to Vlad Tepes, the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula. After 40 years of communism, the country is has joined the European Union and is looking to a modern future. The Romanian language is based on Latin, so it’s possible to figure out the written Romanian if you know French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese. The people are friendly and the cities are very crowded with cars. It is a nice place to visit because it’s not over-run with tourist and tour buses like western Europe.
I recommend visiting Romania to explore some of the Vlad Tepes legend, see the mountains and eat the fish from the Danube Delta.
